PANAMA CITY Renowned American prosecutor Reed Brody, widely recognized as the “dictator hunter,” has issued a scathing critique of the global human rights landscape. In an interview with AFP during the Centroamérica Cuenta festival, Brody advocated for the international prosecution of Donald Trump. He characterized the former U.S. president as an “aspiring dictator,” pointing to his policies regarding Iran and his steadfast support for Israel as justifications for legal action.

Brody, who gained international acclaim for securing a life sentence against Chadian dictator Hissène Habré, also addressed the crisis in Gaza. The experienced attorney directly labeled Israel’s military operations as “genocide,” a serious allegation that reinforces the growing international condemnation of the conflict.

Beyond his focus on Trump, the veteran lawyer is currently targeting the administration in Nicaragua. He has accused co-presidents Rosario Murillo and Daniel Ortega of engaging in systematic crimes against humanity, continuing a lifelong career of representing victims of infamous figures such as Yahya Jammeh and Augusto Pinochet.

The son of a survivor of Nazi concentration camps, Brody views the quest for justice as a personal mission. During his visit to Panama to highlight his significant legal triumphs, he emphasized that no leader, regardless of their power, should be considered immune to international law. As he pursues high-ranking figures, Brody continues to be a controversial yet essential figure in the worldwide movement for human rights.
